- Folk fashion is having its biggest moment since the 70’s. Typically, trends age in dog years, however this one proves to be as sprite as ever. This season’s re-imagining juxtaposes Countryside Americana with folkloric patterns. No better is this illustrated than at Gucci, where Alessandro Michele presented rustic tweed suiting and turn-of-the-century provincial frocks, alongside floral brocades and ornate embroidery. Look no further than Valentino for graphic patchwork prints or Calvin Klein for quilt coats that would make Betsy Ross proud. Shearling coats and full plaid skirts were part of the steampunk uniform at Coach. But the shearling doesn’t stop there. It marched down nearly every catwalk from: Saint Laurent, to Balmain, to Prada and Proenza. From McQ, to MK, and MJ. From the ladies at Sonia, Chloe, and Isabel. And even from your boy Yeezy. To break it down, here are the 5 fall must-haves for this trend:
- -Shearling trimmed, corduroy jacket
- -Nordic sweaters with native patterns
- -Long skirts
- -High boots
- -Embellished patchwork jeans
